Venice Red Fishing

10/15/2024

We had another great day in Louisiana . My clients traveled from Memphis Tennessee to fly fish . One of the anglers had never flyfished at all, so after some instructions we got him his first red fish on fly. There were singles pushing on the surface and some schools would pop up from time to time.  I was fishing in shallow open water bays. Fall fishing is cranking up and we are ready to put you on the water!

2024 Florida Panhandle Tarpon Season

The Tarpon fishing out of Apalachicola ,Carrabelle, St George Island  and Cape Sand Blas was great this season. We had our trying weather pattern days but that's what you get when you fish in the salt water. We always try to site fish with Fly but I did have a few clients that choose spin gear for their day on the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. We used Hogy soft plastics while spin fishing for the big Tarpon . They go nuts when they see the pink with green eel pattern swimming by them . I had trouble keeping the fish hooked up so I started using circle hooks to stay connected to the fish longer. Guiding in the Florida Panhandle can be challenging due to the way we have to fish in basically more open waters but they do like to bite up here.

The Louisiana marsh was on fire today!! The wind was calm in the morning and the fish were schooled up on points and in the back coves. We were able to catch a lot of nice fish using a shrimp pattern fly. If you get the weather, you get good fishing!

Well as you can see the weather in the Louisiana marsh was sunny but cold. The wind blew northwest at 20mph all day. The fish seemed to be stacked in the back of clean water pockets that were shallow . It was a grind but we were able to catch some nice fish. Come fish Louisiana !!

We started our day in South Louisiana with a total fog in so to speak. We could hardly see the bow of the boat while running out to fish. We could not see due to the low light so we fished in some shallow flats with current and caught fish blind casting. The fog lifted and we were able to catch some nice fish floating in open water. If you are in New Orleans come fish the Louisiana marsh!

The Louisiana marsh fished good today. We still had strong winds and super low water but had good sunlight . We had lots of shots at big red fish and drum. If you are in New Orleans ,then you need to come fish the marshes of southeast Louisiana.

We had to work hard today for our fish in the Louisiana marsh. The day started with high winds and a lot of high cloud cover. We also had really low water so it was hard to get into certain places. We were able to pull on some nice fish. If you come to New Orleans ,try heading out on the marsh. We guide from Venice to Hopedale and all points in between.

Calm conditions and tight lines here today in the Louisiana Marsh. They were schooled up all day. The water was nice and clean in the morning but the tide came in and brought some mud with it in the afternoon. We were able to catch fish all day with the great weather. If you are in New Orleans ,come hop on the boat and catch some reds in the Louisiana marshes .
